Vancouver Island Rainbow Association is a not-for-profit society in Nanaimo whose purpose is to promote, educate, and advocate for the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and Transgender Community. VIRA organizes and sponsors Gay Pride activities yearly, as well as monthly social activities. In addition, VIRA meets with local government officials regarding the Pride Week declaration and flag-raising. We also coordinate with other GLBT groups and organizations on Vancouver Island involved in GLBT activities and advocacy.
